Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Sign Language Interpreter is sought for the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 school years to provide dedicated 1:1 support in a school setting located in Laurel, MT. This contract position involves working closely with students requiring sign language interpretation to facilitate effective communication and enhance their educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpreting services for students during instructional time.
- Support classroom communication, ensuring accessibility for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote an inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification or relevant credentials preferred.
- Experience interpreting in educational settings is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication needs of students.
- Ability to work independently and manage a full-time schedule.
